Why the next great digital products will come from Europe

Meet the Speakers

Damián Martone

Damián Martone

Founder and Curator

Hatch Conference

Damián started as a graphic designer, moved into UX, and then stepped out of the traditional career ladder altogether.

For the past 5 years he has been running Hatch Conference in Berlin, a gathering for senior designers who care about craft, strategy, and responsibility.

Born in Argentina, he moved to Germany more than a decade ago. After working as a UX designer across different companies, he realized he was more interested in shaping the conversations around design than shipping another feature.

He built Berlin’s largest Product Design community and co-organized it until last year. He later launched Leadership Ateliers, a more focused format for experienced designers who want to sharpen their thinking around strategy, business, and leading through change.

Europe is entering a new digital reality.
For years, European teams built products on the assumption that platforms from the USA would always be the foundation. That assumption is breaking.

Political pressure, sanctions, and data sovereignty concerns are pushing governments and organizations to favor locally sourced digital products.
This creates a rare opportunity for European design and product teams.

Demand for national and EU based software will grow. AI accelerates this shift, lowering the barrier to match the complexity of long established global tools. What once required massive scale can now be built by focused teams with strong product judgment.

< KEY TOPICS INCLUDE >

Where are the real opportunities emerging for European teams?
How is AI shifting the balance of power in digital product development?
