Hyphen celebrates 10 years with new consulting division, AI focus, and stronger international footprint

The Portuguese UX company is now present on 4 continents, with 130 team members, €4.7M in revenue, and plans to grow by 20% in 2025. A new consulting unit joins the company's team augmentation services, now offering an end-to-end solution with AI as a key amplifier of human expertise.

Lisbon, September 23, 2025 – Hyphen, the leading UX company in Portugal by revenue and team size, marks its 10th anniversary with a new strategic phase: launching a consulting division, deepening its focus on AI-driven innovation, and accelerating global expansion. This new chapter follows the organizational separation from Tangível, with whom Hyphen operated jointly in the UX market for nearly eight years.

In 2024, Hyphen recorded its highest revenue ever: €4.7 million, a 27% increase over the previous year. For 2025, the company aims to grow more than 25%, driven by an expanded service portfolio and a stronger presence in both domestic and international markets.

With offices in Lisbon and Porto, Hyphen operates a usability testing lab and works with leading clients in Portugal such as Cofidis, EDP, Millennium BCP, Via Verde, and Vodafone.

“We’re celebrating a decade with the confidence of being market leaders in Portugal and the ambition to shape the future of UX globally — creating digital experiences that simplify people’s lives and include everyone,” says André Esteves de Carvalho, Founder and CEO of Hyphen.

The company currently has 130 professionals and is actively hiring, with several open positions for UX experts — ideally with experience at the intersection of UX and Artificial Intelligence.

“Our goal is to solve any UX challenge for our clients, regardless of the working model,” André explains. “We can strengthen their digital product teams, build new ones from scratch, or tackle specific projects — from design and user research to strategy — always striving for innovation in a rapidly evolving market.”

A Complete UX Offering, Now with Consulting

The new consulting area covers the full user experience lifecycle — from qualitative and quantitative research, service design, and usability testing to product design, design systems, content design, and accessibility.

In the field of UX strategy, Hyphen supports organizations in developing scalable, mature design practices through design maturity assessments, content strategies, and the implementation of DesignOps and ResearchOps.

AI as a Strategic Driver for the Future of UX

“The future of UX is being shaped by AI, and we want to lead that transformation,” says André Esteves de Carvalho. “We combine research, design, and strategy with cutting-edge AI technologies to align business goals with user needs — creating intuitive, impactful, and more human solutions.”

Hyphen approaches AI from two angles:

  • As a tool to support UX work, accelerating research, analysis, and design.
  • As a new field of design, focused on building experiences for AI-based products.

The company has established a new innovation department and already uses AI tools to speed up repetitive tasks and enhance project impact — from analyzing large research datasets and generating design/content hypotheses to prototyping and supporting usability testing.

While AI increases speed and accuracy, Hyphen continues to prioritize human interpretation, critical thinking, team empathy, and the quality of the final experience.

A Global Presence with a Strong Community Connection

With operations across Europe, the United States, Brazil, and the Middle East, Hyphen is deepening its investment in these markets. In 2025, the company has already sponsored major UX conferences in Amsterdam and Berlin.

“We maintain a close relationship with the UX community in Portugal, regularly supporting and partnering with local initiatives,” André highlights.

Since 2022, Hyphen has organized community meetups in Lisbon and Porto, promoting talks and debates around the most relevant UX topics in Portugal and beyond. The 10th edition of UXpress Yourself will take place in Porto on October 2nd and will focus on Digital Accessibility, one of the most urgent topics for organizations with digital platforms.
